The Charities Act 2006

The Charities Act 2006  was passed by Parliament in November 2006 but did not come into force immediately. Some parts of the Act came into force on 27 February 2007. Most of the rest will come into force by early 2008.

We have produced a series of fact sheets to give an overview of the Act and how it will affect small charities. These leaflets are adapted from “Charities Act 2006 – What Trustees need to Know” produced by The Office of the Third Sector and The Charity Commission which is also available below.

If you have any specific queries on how the Charities Act could affect your organisation please contact our Community Development Worker Amelia Hughes on 01432 343 932 or amelia@herefordshireva.org or visit http://www.cabinetoffice.gov.uk/third_sector/law_and_regulation/charities_act_2006/
