New Building Research Establishment Grants

There is a new grant run by the Building Research Establishment (BRE) for community groups for renewable energy and energy efficiency measures. The maximum Capital Grant available is £50,000 or 50 per cent of the project cost (whichever is lower).

Grants will only be awarded to:

community groups governed by a written constitution
registered charities and trusts
parish councils
schools and colleges
companies with a charitable purpose and community focus mutual societies
church based and other faith organisations

There are also Project Development Grants are available for studies investigating the feasibility of installing renewable energy. Applications are open from April 2008. See http://www.communitysustainable.org.uk/  for more information.
