Introducing the Safe Network Standards – helping keep children and young people safe

Launched in February 2011 these national core standards are designed to help non-statutory organisations keep children and young people safe. They are accessible and easy to use, even for smaller voluntary and community groups that may have limited resources.

The standards cover four main areas:
• Safer staff and volunteers – recruitment, induction and supervision
• Child Protection
• Preventing and responding to bullying
• Avoiding accidents and running safe activities and events
