How can Herefordshire build a resilient localised economy, braced for change? Thursday 20th October 7.30 – 10pm @ Great Hall, Bishop’s Palace, Hereford HR4 8BN Keynote Speakers : Neil Kerr, Jonathan Hines, Richard Priestley - with presentations from Wiggly Wigglers, Riversimple & Greenearth Energy. see below & attached for further details Book seats in advance asap please, by email to enova@onetel.com or by text to 07957 348885 Initiated by the Transition Network and the Herefordshire in Transition Alliance (HiTAlliance), the REconomy project aims to bring together and encourage all those who recognise the pressing need to make the Herefordshire economy more resilient and sustainable. This means helping to create new enterprises which will take advantage of emergent opportunities, while supporting existing enterprises to explore new business models, so as to build a ‘Transition Economy’. · How can we grow a truly sustainable, low-carbon, energy-smart economy in Herefordshire? · What needs to be done - by individuals, communities, businesses, and policymakers? · What opportunities beckon and what is already pointing the way – here in Herefordshire and elsewhere in Europe? Neil Kerr, Chair of the Hereford Business Board, will provide an update on local and regional economic policy in relation to sustainability, taking account of initiatives including the new Enterprise Zone and Local Enterprise Partnership. Having recently visited Austria, Richard Priestley, local author and expert on cutting-edge environmental technology, will take a look at inspirational developments in Europe which demonstrate how local economies can be transformed by embracing opportunities for sustainability. Jonathan Hines, Director of award-winning local architectural practice Architype, will introduce examples of emergent ‘best practice’ by local enterprises including Heather Gorringe (Wiggly Wigglers), Nico Sergent (Riversimple) & Dai Rees (Greenearth Energy). Followed by tea, cake and a lively panel discussion to which all are invited to contribute their questions and comments.
