FREE “CHANCE TO CHANGE” WORKSHOPS IN HEREFORD

“Chance to Change” (C2C) is a Climate Change Communication project which started in February 2007 and is currently funded until the end of February 2008. Working with a wide variety of people in three settlements along the borders (Kington, Ludlow, Hereford), C2C has been developing a practical “toolkit” of communication skills, ideas and information for people who are, in one way or another, keen to address climate change.

The Hereford climate workshops, which are free to participants, have been designed for all kinds of people who would like to develop and use climate communication skills. The workshops will feature

 local speakers (including a journalist and an author),
 presentations about Home Energy Servicing,
 Carbon calculators etc (practical ways to save energy, save money),
 a look at running participatory meetings
 a session led by OU lecturer Linda Downey examining public resistance to change and the factors that would support people in making positive changes.

There will also be an opportunity for attendees to examine and assess some of the most useful, creative and innovative materials currently available for climate communication … for example the Farming Futures fact sheets (specialist information and advice for farmers and growers) and “An Inconvenient Truth” ( Al Gore’s superb film about Climate Change) … and many other recent films, DVDs, fact sheets etc. including an overview of innovative projects starting up along the borders (and beyond) which are contributing to a more positive future for generations to come.

The workshops will take place on 5th January and 19th January at the Kindle Centre in Hereford. To book a place and to receive more information please contact Rachel Francis on rachelzzzyx@gmail.com  or phone 01544 260635
