APPOINTMENT OF LAY MEMBERS TO THE HEREFORDSHIRE SAFEGUARDING CHILDREN BOARD (HSCB) • Are you passionate about the safety and protection of children and young people in your community? • Would you like to make a difference to the lives of children and young people in Herefordshire? • Would you be able to commit approximately 10 days per year of your time? If so, then you may be the person we are looking for to help bring a wider perspective to the work of Herefordshire Safeguarding Children Board. As part of our commitment to engaging communities in safeguarding children we are looking to appoint 2 volunteer Lay Members. Your role will be to think as a member of the public; to play a part in the oversight and scrutiny of decisions and policies made by the Board and to get involved in some of the work of the Board’s sub groups. Your main duty will be to attend the Board meetings and sub groups as appropriate. You will need to be a resident in Herefordshire who has an understanding of working with children and young people, an ability to community effectively within meetings, and confidence to ask questions and challenge people in a constructive way. You will also need to demonstrate a commitment to promoting equality and diversity, and improving the safety of children and young people in Herefordshire. Expenses will be reimbursed to cover travel and subsistence.
